Burnley and Pendle MG Owners Club
Jim and Christines MG BGT was registered in August 1972 at Penwortham, Preston. Co-incidentally Christine also happens to originate from Penwortham. Jim purchased the car in 1988 and used it daily for two years before taking it off the road for minor repairs. Eleven off the road, years later, as a retirement project, Jim decided to restore it.

A further twelve months of replacing the usual rotten bits, Sills, Castle Sections, Wings etc., passed with numerous visits to Moss Ltd. to pick up little boxes of new bits, totally disproportionate to the big wads of money handed over in exchange for said boxes.

The final job, a professional respray in the original colour of Glacier White was completed and the contents of the boxes were transferred to their rightful positions on the MG.

Since it was recommissioned in 2001 it has been used year round, taking part in numerous MGOC Area runs and holidaying in places as varied as Devon, Dorset, The Lakes, N. Yorkshire, The Peak District and even overseas, (well technically over the sea, The Isle of Man actually).

As with all similar aged cars it requires ongoing maintainance, the engine has been out again, to replace the clutch system. It has also had new Shockers & Springs, Water Radiator, Oil Radiator, Half Shaft Bearings, Brake Discs, Distributor and last but by no means least the upholstery with the rear seat (ha, ha, ha,) covers being totally made from scratch by the unofficial club seamstress, Christine.

Summing up our car might be likened to Trigger's broom (only Folls and Horses), which had 34 replacement heads and 18 new handles, nevertheless it was the same broom he had used for 30 years, - now thats evolution and that is exactly what a well loved classic MG is all about.
